Okay, to begin Mages obviously don't have the innate capability to do even mentionable physical melee damage. However, this little tip may reveal a way for you to change that (but not fully). Basically, you go to The Shadow Labyrinth instance. There are a set of mobs that at a certain amount of health, they will sometimes transmute theirselfs to take the form of a mini magmadar.
This is a magical buff, and as so you may cast Spell Steal to capture the buff for two minutes. Now you have like +700 attack power, and attack twice as fast with melee attacks. Now, the only way to really make any usage of this is to find melee dps cloth gear???? Lol, strength and agility! Unfortunately, the best you could find is a cloak, a dagger or a staff to use.
It's not that great for Mages, but you will look like a total badass at least. Also, you can not cast spells in this form, so you will have to dismiss the buff to do so.
