Lethals Holy Priest Guide =================== [0] Introduction [1] The Class [2] Builds [3] Playing a Priest [4] Ending ===================
[0] Introduction
I have been playing a level 60 Priest since the Pre-BG days, and I have a level 70 priest, rogue, hunter, and a shaman. People say I play too much, no, in fact I hardly play, I just play on weekends mostly. I know how to play, which enables me to play less than others, but lets me progress further than them.

[1] The Class
The priest was designed to be the most efficient healer. A druid can heal more, but is not as efficient; and in raids, efficiency is key. Here is a break down:
Holy Priest:
Pros-
Heals very efficiently (i.e. Priest is assigned to heal Main Tank, Druid for group; by the time the druid is done healing the group, the priest could have done the same, by managing the MT and the group.)
Easy to get into a New Guild or a High-End Guild
Cons-
Heals consume a lot of mana
Very Gear dependant
For Holy Priests here is what kind of gear one should have:
Primary: Intellect (Mana and Range Critical Strikes) Second: Spirit (Increased Mana and HP regeneration, great in fights) Third: Stamina (Probably the least important for a Holy Priest, in PvP though the more HP you have the better, Gladiators set takes care of that)
Also for + gear, go for this:
Primary: + Healing Second: + Spell Damage Third: + Spell Critical Fourth: + Mana per Scond
Healing and get Critical strikes with ones heals is your priority, the more Intellect you have, the longer you will last in a fight, Spirit is for HP and Mana regeneration (also note that this also in-combat regeneration). Also Stamina is a bit important so you can take a few hits.

[3] Playing a priest
When playing a priest, keep in mind that you must keep your objective in mind, heal your target then yourself. If you are assigned to a Tank, heal him, your group, then yourself; in that priority.
When it comes down to you healing your group, if you are confident about your abilities and your gear, heal them at 50% health, for the Tank in your group heal at 75% since he has more health.
When you are under attack, respond in this order:
- check your health - check your groups health - check the tanks health - use this macro: /yell Pull Agro from (your name here) - fade - if that doesnt work, use your shield - dont run, its an elite, it wont run from you - if youre a respected healer say this: Can I please get a rez? Thanks
- A druid should resurrect you, if you believe none heard you repeat again a few times, dont spam, if not stay dead till after the fight is over; normally during the boss fight healers get a priority battle resurrect.
Also, you want to setup an action bar dedicated to Buffs, one for Caster Benefits and the other for Holy spells (i.e. HoTs, and your potions), your main action bar should be filled with Healing spells.

[4] Ending
Well, I hope this has helped you gain more experience with playing you priest.
And remember, your no ones healing puppet, just heal who you are supposed to and no one else, the only reason people complain about the priest is this:
- The priest really does suck - Or the person complaining blows so much that he cant manage his aggro (excluding the tank, and people affected by AoE spells)
